What Works

Whether you're a nonprofit executive, a board member, an engaged funder ....or are thinking about becoming any of those things, what works for us and what works for our partners might just work for you too!

We believe part of Common Good Ventures mission is to share what we're learning with nonprofits, board members and funders. Our experience is grounded in Maine but we regularly get feedback from colleagues nationally and internationally that our approach, experiments and tools are relevant for their work as well. So we share our stories, tools and resources.

Despite our instinct to quantify and graph, we know that judging impact takes many forms. Stories both illustrate and touch on the heart of what we do - and are often the easiest way to share what we're learning. At the same time, we do look at quantitative measures of impact. We also think critically about "how it all adds up" and ask ourselves how we can generate even greater impact - we'd love your input on that question.

Finally, we learn a tremendous amount from our regular evaluations by outside experts who both ask our partners directly and anonymously what they think and also make their own assessment of Common Good Ventures' impact, strengths and opportunities to improve.
